How Motor City is laid out

Union Properties conceived Motor City as a motorsport themed district with the Dubai Autodrome at its heart, and the circuit still defines the map. Homes sit in two main parts. Uptown Motor City, on the eastern side, is a neighbourhood of six and seven storey buildings such as the nine Fox Hill blocks and Oia Residence, arranged around First Avenue Mall, Camden Park and Windsor Park, with shops and cafes at street level.

Green Community Motor City, in the south west corner between Hessa Street and the circuit, came first, with its original villas completed in 2010. It later grew with the Casa Flores townhouses and Eden Apartments by National Properties, both launched in 2017. Newer towers such as Rabdan on Joud Boulevard West, finished in 2020, and a wave of off plan launches by Sobha Realty, Binghatti and Iman Developers are now adding higher density homes to the community.

Schools, shops and getting around Motor City

Motor City works well for families because schools, a supermarket and parks are all within a short walk or drive. There is no metro station, so residents rely on cars and taxis, and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Hessa Street connect quickly to Al Barsha, Jumeirah Village Circle and the rest of the city.

  • •GEMS Metropole School Motor City is in Uptown, opposite Oia Residence and about 0.5 km from Fox Hill.
  • •Renaissance School Dubai and Dwight School Dubai are both under a kilometre from Green Community.
  • •Victory Heights Primary School is about 1.1 to 1.3 km from the western side of the community.
  • •First Avenue Mall and Spinneys in Uptown Motor City cover everyday shopping.
  • •Windsor Park and Camden Park give Uptown residents green space right beside their buildings.
  • •Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club is about 1.2 km from Oia Residence, and Dubai Miracle Garden about 2 km away.

Reasons people settle in Motor City

  • •Walkable Uptown streets with parks, cafes and First Avenue Mall at the centre.
  • •A choice of homes from studios to four bedroom villas within one community.
  • •Gross yields near 8% on one bedroom apartments.
  • •Several international schools within about a kilometre of most homes.
  • •Freehold title, open to buyers of any nationality.

Things to weigh up in Motor City

  • •Off plan accounts for a large slice of today's deals: line up the developer's handover date and payment schedule with when you actually need the home.
  • •Race and event days at the Autodrome bring extra visitors; view a home on a busy weekend if you value total quiet.
  • •There is no metro station, so plan on a car for commutes to Downtown or DIFC.
  • •Since the towers were completed over more than ten years, service charges and upkeep can differ from one building to the next, so ask for each building's figures.
